"THE ENGAGEMENT PARTY" from FOR NOW AND FOREVER

Summary provided by author:

This storyline occurred over a span of four episodes (FNaF #10-13) and dealt with the events that happened at the engagement party of Reginald Callison and Jillian Stokes.  This storyline is important to the entire structure of FNaF because of the far reaching effects that the events that occurred during this storyline. These events were so important that their results are still being played out in episodes months later.  Characters were truly changed forever.

To deliver a synopsis of what transpired during the engagement party would not do the storyline justice (and would probably confuse you to no end).  However, the events that happened during this storyline had far reached consequences that sent characters and storylines off in different directions and changed the lives of the characters forever.  In fact, nearly all of the current storylines can be linked to events that occurred during this party.

Annabelle Lake plotted to take Charles Callison away from his wife Francis and drugged his drink to do so.  Francis found them together (thanks do their daughter Maggie) and promptly left him.  They are now separated and planning to divorce.  The entire Callison family continues to deal with the events of the party.

Stephanie Lake entered the party a scheming witch and suffered utter devastation and humiliation when her plans to separate Reginald and Jillian backfired and she became the town pariah.  This led to an emotional breakdown and a turning point in her life.  Realizing that scheming would not help her find true happiness, she turned to Patterson to show her how to be a better person.  He began to see that maybe she wasn't as bad as he'd once thought.  Now, Stephanie is slowly redeeming herself, though still manages a scheme or two.  Patterson is finding himself falling for a new and improved Steph.

After Reginald's long over affair with Stephanie was made public knowledge, Jillian's snotty parents didn't think he was appropriate for her and forbid her to marry him.  She stood up to them and her father disowned her.  However, her mother disagreed and secretly began to send Jillian money.  Jillian and her parents are still estranged.

Douglas, who had been dating Stephanie, promptly dumped her upon learning of her schemes.  Lorraine, who was Patterson's girlfriend, saw Patterson with Stephanie and misunderstood what was going on.  Feeling lonely and abandoned, they sought comfort in each other.  The combination of loneliness and too much to drink (compounded by Lorraine unknowingly drinking a drugged drink that Annabelle had meant for Charles) led them to share a night of passion.  Later, this resulted in Lorraine's pregnancy with Douglas' child, her breakup with Patterson (which made him more emotionally attached to Stephanie), and Douglas and Lorraine's marriage for the sake of the baby.

Sara (Stephanie's cousin) realized that Dane (her boyfriend) would never settle down with one woman unless he was married (thanks to the truth being revealed about his schemes with Stephanie) so she threatened to turn him into the college dean for cheating on his entrance exam unless her married her.  Today, Dane and Sara are in a troubled marriage and are suffering financial difficulties because of their marriage (he was financially cut of by his parents).  Sara also broke all ties with Stephanie for her betrayal.  The cousins still do not speak.

Grace (Douglas' sister) had a crush on Dane, but Trevor (Lorraine's ex-boyfriend) was in love with her.  Seeing Dane's true nature broke her crush and finally made her receptive of Trevor's romantic notions even though she insisted that they remain just friends.  Today, they continue to grow closer, but he still can't get her to accept his love.

Also, during the engagement part, we were first introduced to Jillian's sisters Judith and Janet as well as Judith's husband Mark and Francis' mother Mary (who all would later play important rolls in the series).  Mark and Judith's troubled marriage was first seen and we were first told that Judith was pregnant by a man who wasn't her husband.  Today, Judith is trying to separate Janet from her boyfriend Burt who, just so happens, to be the real father of her child.  During the party, it was also explained that Janet had a troubled past and carried a dark secret.  Today, that secret still has not been revealed.

As I've said, it's hard to detail everything that went on during the engagement party storyline since so many of the plots and characters are so intertwined.  FNaF is not a series about topical issues and social impact.  It is a series about characters and people and their relationships.  This storyline impacted every character in the series and nearly every current storyline can be traced back to events that happened during the party.
